F1 2026 Mid-Season Check-In: Mercedes' Surprise Title Fight Heads to Belgium

One of the more unexpected storylines of the 2026 Formula 1 season is just how strong Mercedes has been under the new regulations. Kimi Antonelli currently leads the Drivers' Championship ahead of teammate George Russell, with the team also holding the top spot in the Constructors' standings heading into round 10 in Belgium this weekend.
It hasn't been a total Mercedes procession, though. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc snapped his win drought at Silverstone earlier this month, taking a dramatic British Grand Prix after Antonelli lost time to a car issue and a late safety car reshuffled the order. Leclerc held off Russell and teammate Lewis Hamilton for a result that briefly slowed Mercedes' momentum before the summer swing continued.
With Hungary and the Dutch Grand Prix still to come before the August break, the title picture is far from settled, and the new-regulation cars have kept the paddock guessing all season.
Motorsport's crossover into everyday style has followed the same track as football and cricket: team colours, race-day graphics, and paddock aesthetics are showing up more in streetwear than strictly on the grid. If that's a lane you're into, keep an eye on our drops, we've got more culture-driven pieces on the way.
